Review for issue 42 of Magicseen (Dec 2011)
"Life is a magical experience, living is an exciting journey-Wolfgang Riebe is the enigmatic catalyst" I visited the Magic Circle headquarters, one Monday night way back in 1982, and a guest performer took to the stage, named Wolfgang Riebe. Nobody had ever heard of him! After his performance he was the talk of the town. He completely blew everyone away with his unique and original style of magic. He was a breath of fresh air.

Wolfgang appeared on several TV shows, including Bruce Forsyth's Play your cards right... and then he disappeared. It was a great loss to the UK magic scene, as he surely would have gone on to greater things, but he decided to spend time entertaining on the cruise ships with his cabaret act, finally settling down in Cape Town, South Africa.

The Complete Works covers all of Wolfgang's publications that have appeared in print over the years ,in one huge omnibus edition. We are talking here of 428 pages of what can only be described as a gold mine of magic. Every aspect of our wonderful craft is covered, for the simple reason that he performs close up magic, cabaret, mentalism, illusions and children's shows. Each routine in this mammoth tome is refined to perfection. These are tricks he has performed over the last 30 years- some new and some old- all great. There are nearly 40 routines, all clearly explained ,on card magic alone ; about the same amount on general close up magic; there are sections on mental magic, children's magic, balloon modelling and stage magic.

There are chapters devoted to patter, marketing you act, planning your show, theory, and so much more. Wolfgang Riebe is one of the world's leading motivational speakers, using magic to help get his specific message over to his target audience, and so as an added bonus there are sections on building confidence, market research and brainstorming, organisation, hints and tips- everything is discussed and dissected in what must rate as one of the most comprehensive books ever written on the subject of magic.

What's Hot: A complete treatise on the full art of magic.

What's Not: How can a book that contains so much solid advice and information have any faults?"

Jack Stephens: UK

"Wolfgang is a highly successful magician who has achieved his fame and wealth through hard work and dedication. The Complete Works is a culmination of his efforts. This book, written in his distinctive conversational style, reflects the innovative ideas that have gone on in his head for more than 30 years. No matter if you are a close-up, stage, mentalist or children’s magician, you will find gems in this treasure trove for your act. This 440 page veritable encyclopaedia is stuffed, from cover to cover, with practical magic and useable ideas. It even has chapters on patter and marketing.

This is not the type of book to gather dust on a bookshelf. It is more likely to become dog-eared from continuous use. Whatever you pay for this book, you will be getting a bargain. I highly recommend this exceptional collection of magic nuggets to the international magic fraternity."

Review for The Magic Circular & The Magic Week (No. 591 22 Oct. 11): UK
"Throughout the eighties, I was a regular Monday night visitor to the Magic Circle Club, first at Cheney Mews and then at the Victory Services Club. One evening, sometime in 1988, a guest performer, Wolfgang Riebe took to the stage to perform a short magic spot. Nobody in the audience paid much attention – we had never heard of him. Twenty minutes later, his performance was the sole topic of conversation. His act was simply stunning, in that it was like a breath of fresh air. Superb magic, a good line in patter, easy to follow and appealing. Wolfgang Riebe had arrived.

Then to the fraternity’s amazement, he completely vanished. Wolfgang had decided that a life at sea was the one for him, and he spent the next few years performing his cabaret/illusion act on the world’s leading cruise liners. After time spent on the ocean’s wave, he settled in Cape Town, South Africa, where he established himself as the most successful magician on the African continent, with his own primetime magic show. He still lives in South Africa, but spends many months travelling all around the world performing his magic and motivational talk shows.

Wolfgang has produced a superb book entitled THE COMPLETE WORKS which is a mammoth book of over 400 pages, containing every routine that he has previously published. They are now here all together under one roof, covering every aspect of magic from close up cards and coins, to comedy cabaret, illusions, mentalism and children’s magic. Each section has several routines, including tips on how to construct, routine, and present the tricks. Patter lines are given, gags are listed, ideas are given on advertising, planning, designing, organisation; every aspect of magic and the performing of magic is covered in this comprehensive publication. And of course, tricks galore. There are gems scattered throughout this book of good, solid, practical working magic for the performing magician.

The Complete Works must rate as one of the finest publications on the art of magic."

"Baie dankie vir jou mooi Magic boek. Ek is baie trots op jou wat jy vir Magic doen en dat jy altyd ‘n oop hart het vir almal en Magic so mooi met ander deel. Jy het baie jongmanne gehelp en dit is waarom jy vandag so geseend is. Hou so aan al dink jy dit word nie gewaardeer nie." Chris Welsh: SA

"This book every professional magician should have in their collection. The word "experience" describes this wonderful written book and you are guaranteed to learn lots of new things which has been test through trial and error. I would say that you can't call yourself a collector of magic if you do not have this book!"

"As a full-time performing professional magician, I’ve spent thousands of dollars on magic books, props and videos but rarely have I received as much value for money from a purchase as with Wolfgang Riebe’s “The Complete Works”.  Virtually every routine and trick can be added to a working professional’s repertoire, as they are practical and have been audience-tested to thousands of people. Besides the tricks, patter and routines, Wolfgang has provided practical advice on the ‘business’ of magic which I would highly recommend to anyone who is wants to take the Art of Magic seriously. This book is to chock-a-block full of valuable information, is fun to read and will take a permanent place in my library, as I have no doubt that I will be referring to it should I quickly need to add something new to an act. Take it from me, a working pro: you won’t be disappointed." Marcel Oudejans: SA

"Reading Wolfgang’s book was like sitting in front of a fireplace sipping 20 year old KWV brandy and talk with him about the immortality of magic. He writes this book in a comfortable way without long boring explanations. Every piece of magic in this book can be use by any magician and there are lots of ideas to scoop up old boring routines. The way this book was written, the easy way in which the magic was explained, make this book a must for every magician to have in his library." Werner Swart: SA

"I have recently bought Wolfgang's new Magic Book, The Complete Works and was very impressed. The whole Magic spectrum is addressed with very nice routines and tips. There are not only magic routines, but great Theory and Marketing tips too. A Magic Book for every Magician’s Book Self. The book is highly recommended."
